At New Vine, we believe Jesus’ last command is of utmost importance! ‘The Great Good’- to ‘Go and make disciples of all nations’. We use the expression ‘Glocal’ to be our name for all our efforts together in mission. It is our response to the Great Commission. We think normal christian practice is to commit oneself to living and serving beyond the walls of our church in both global and local contexts.

The essence of Glocal is our desire to make a difference in our community, our city, our nation and the world by allowing the timeless truths of God’s Word to shape the way we think and live.

And so May has become our ‘The Great Good’ month where we focus on glocal missions. We remember the highlights and challenges of the last 12 months, reconnect with our glocal partners and recommit as New Viners to get involved! To extend God’s kingdom. To Go, Give and Pray.

Now go in my authority and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.

Matthew 28:19-20 (TPT)

Glocal was launched in 2003, and as part of their glocal commitment New Viners raised $58,100 for glocal in that first year! This last year we we snuck over our faith target with $152.6k total given… and the exciting news that cumulatively New Vine has now given more than $2M

Thank you to all who made this possible.

As part of our annual cycle we always invite and challenge New Viners to make a 12 month “faith promise” to our glocal goals… this coming year we have set our sights on raising $165k in missions support.

From these faithful and faith-filled promises we have been able to develop many fruitful glocal partnerships. Together we have funded many projects and sent people both locally and globally to declare the good news of the gospel. We believe that following Jesus is the way to experience life in all its fullness, and we’re committed to helping others discover a personal relationship with Him.

For over ten years, New Vine has been sending teams to Vanuatu to help construct school and student accommodation buildings in Tanna and Port Vila in Vanuatu. Christian Community Schools Vanuatu bring freedom and purpose to the young people of Vanuatu by providing education through their network of schools and ongoing health and agricultural programs that benefit the broader community.

In the local dialect, hohidiai means ‘to restore’. The Hohidiai Medical Centre exists to bring physical, emotional and spiritual restoration to the poor and marginalised people of Indonesia. The Centre sees up to 8,000 patients a year and offers an in-patient facility and birthing centre, as well as treatment and rehabilitation for leprosy and tuberculosis.

Steve and Helen Blake’s vision is to bring God’s Kingdom into the lives of individuals and communities through Liberty People. They minister together in countries around the globe through church planting, leadership training, building schools, providing disaster relief, and instigating ongoing health and agricultural programs that benefit communities.

In an area that’s fuelled by religious violence, the Christian Faith Institute is training Nigerian church leaders to minister to their communities. They use the ‘lion and the lamb’ as the symbol for their ministry, and also run children’s homes, vocational training and grass-roots community development projects.

Using simple, reproducible Biblical principles of evangelism, multiplication and discipleship, Grant Morrison is a New Viner who trains and coaches church planters in Australia and overseas, with a particular focus in the Solomon Islands and Pacific Islands.

New Viners Craig and Helen Waldock are living  and serving the community in Tabora, Tanzania. They are currently learning Swahili and helping run after-school groups for local children.

Newvine Network is our collaboration with our church plants here in the Hunter. With a vision to grow to a network of 25 church by 2025 we certainly still have plenty of room for God to do amazing things! Along with H2O, Lakes, Vineyards, Ignite and Beaches we continue to believe God to raise up local planters and teams.

As part of a team to serve or minister either locally or overseas. Going is responding to the call to take up action in both our local communities and further afar.

To give sacrificially of our time and our finances to the work of mission throughout Australia and the world.

Taking time to pray and talk with God, thoughtfully considering those who are far from God and those who are reaching them.
