Baptism is a public declaration of your commitment to follow Jesus.
Going below the water and rising up again — in the presence of your community — is a symbolic act that demonstrates your new (or renewed) commitment to faith. There’s nothing ‘religious’, compulsory or saving in the act itself; it’s simply a step we take as followers of Jesus to solidify our commitment in our own hearts with the support of our family, friends and community.
